George Yap is currently the Chairman of the Malaysian Wood Moulding & Joinery Council (MWMJC), a trade association representing downstream timber industry products in Malaysia.
George is also a Malaysian Timber Council board trustee, who passionately advocates the advancement of the timber industry towards a sustainable, environmentally friendly and circular economy.
As an entrepreneur, George heads the Weng Meng Group of Companies. In addition to being a leading manufacturer of timber doors and provider of door solutions under the SANDOR label for both Malaysia and the export market, the Group is a leading manufacturer of cable reel for the cable and wire industries, and also a manufacturer in the business of converting oil palm trunk waste from replantation to a carbon storage product to replace timber with its own R&D company.
George holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from Monash University in Australia.
