On 10 October 2025, MCMTC successfully organised the Logistics Forum: “From Land-Locked to Land-Linked: Asia and Beyond” at the MICCI 1837 Lounge.

The forum brought together key stakeholders from Malaysia, Lao PDR and 5 Central Asian Countries to explore opportunities for enhanced connectivity, trade facilitation and regional integration.

Joining virtually were Mr. Rustam Mukhanov (Sentralog Global Sdn Bhd, Kazakhstan) and Mr. Owen (Greenroad International Logistics, China), who also shared insights on regional logistics opportunities and infrastructure development in their respective countries.

Members gained valuable insights into alternative routes for connecting and exporting to ASEAN and beyond. Mr. Tee highlighted updates on the progress and expansion of the Trans-Asian Railway Network, which could connect Malaysia to Central Asia within 19 days. Mr. Sakhone presented the Thanaleng Dry Port and its pivotal role as an international border checkpoint for commercial conveyances, and Ir. Ahmad Nizam shared perspectives and updated on the ASEAN Express – the railway connectivity from Malaysia to China & beyond and outlined plans for sustained, long-term improvement in regional rail infrastructure.

H.E. Dr. Karomiddin Gadoev then presented the various routes by land, sea and air, with costs, distances travelled, and time taken from Malaysia to Central Asian Countries. H.E. Dr.Karomiddin also shared a new perspective on a proposed railway route that could link Malaysia to Uzbekistan through a corridor passing Kashgar (China) → Torugart (Kyrgyzstan) → Makmal (Kyrgysztan) → Jalal-Abad (Kyrgyzstan) → Andijan (Uzbekistan), within 25-30days, further expanding potential trade connectivity across the region. The construction of the key facilities for the “China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Project” was officially launched on April 29, 2025.

An active discussion followed, with full participation by all the five Ambassadors, our invited speakers and our logistics and manufacturing Members. Questions raised were answered and suggestions brought forth were accepted for deliberation and further action.

The forum concluded with a light lunch sponsored by one of our Founding Members – Marrybrown, Malaysia’s very own home-grown success story – Halal Quick Service Restaurant Chain, serving millions of customers in over 500+ outlets across 16 countries (and counting).
