Meeting with YB Tuan Ng Sze Han on Addressing Illegal Foreign Businesses
MCMTC participated in a dialogue held at the Wisma Dewan Negeri Selangor on 20th July,2025. Chaired by Selangor State Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility, YB Tuan Ng Sze Han, the dialogue involved industry leaders and various government agencies. The dialogue addressed the issues of undocumented foreigners, mostly from China, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. These foreigners do not register their businesses in Malaysia and they cause unfair competition with their price-cutting tactics. They also pose risks to the Consumers as oft times, the products / services are not regulated by our established standards and systems. Industries severely affected include the local photographers & photo studios, interior furniture & fittings companies, and jewellery & clothing / textile traders.
Representing MCMTC were President Mr. Martin Ang and Secretary-General Ms. Mag Ng, who shared their perspectives and observations. MCMTC support open and fair competition, underpinned by strong regulatory oversight to ensure a level playing field in the local business ecosystem. Illegal and undocumented foreign businesses that do not comply with the local laws & regulations pose high risks to our local consumers as well as to our traders, craftsmen and manufacturers.
MCMTC remains committed to working alongside policymakers and fellow trade associations to foster sustainable local business environment that promotes business growth, fair & ethical trade and consumer safety.
