China Merchant Group visit to MCMTC
We were honoured to host the 3 high-level representatives from the Management Committee of the Zhangzhou China Merchants Economic & Technological Development Zone (CMZD). CMZD was founded in 1992 by the China Merchants Group (CMG) and is envisioned to be built as ‘the 2nd Shekou” in China. CMG is a key state-owned enterprise directly administered by the Central Govt. Founded in 1872, it is now headquartered in Hong Kong. CMG is a comprehensive enterprise with diverse business operations, with primary focuses on transportation and logistics, comprehensive finance, comprehensive development of cities and parks, and innovation. CMG is one of the earliest Chinese-funded enterprises established in the region.
The meeting was attended by 33 representatives from 16 of MCMTC member companies. It was a lively 3 hours, filled with good dialogues, good food and drinks. Our guests were very impressed with the varied expertise demonstrated by our Member companies, and felt very much ‘at home’, communicating with a mix of Mandarin and English with the members. Our guest commented that if he had known there would be so much tasty food, they would not have eaten prior to the meeting.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between MCMTC and Zhangzhou China Merchants Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee, represented by President Martin Ang and Dep. Director Mr. Robin Li Yibin (CMZD) respectively, and witnessed by Ms. Lee Pang, Vice President of MCMTC and Director Mr. Huang QiangZhong of CMZD.
It was a successful meeting and we are looking forward to working with CMZD to foster more collaborations between China and Malaysia.
