Sesi Libat Urus HASiL Bersama Dengan Dewan/ Persatuan Perdagangan Malaysia Tahun 2025

On 27 August 2025, Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia (HASiL) hosted the Sesi Libat Urus (SLU) with Malaysia’s trade chambers and associations at Dewan Bangsawan, Menara HASiL, Cyberjaya. The session, led by YBhg. Datuk Dr. Abu Tariq Jamaluddin, CEO of HASiL, was attended by nearly 80 industry representatives.

MCMTC was represented by our Honorary President, Mr. Callum Chen, and Secretary General, Ms. Mag Ng, and our member, Ms. Agnes Wong of Syarikat Ong and our Exec. Director, Ms Karen Fairclough-Ng. During the dialogue, Mr. Callum Chen raised a key concern on refunds for overpaid taxes, highlighting that refunds currently take 20–40 months and that the 2% compensation for delays was removed in 2020.

MCMTC proposed that refunds be allowed to be offset directly against tax payable instead of going through the lengthy refund process, especially in the present period of upheaval where many companies are struggling with Cash flow issues brought about by the Trump Tariffs. This point was well received by the floor as many businesses are facing this issue. LHDN also acknowledged and gave immediate feedback that the matter will be brought up to the Ministry of Finance (M.O.F.).

Other key points discussed were updates on the e-Invoice system, which entered its third phase on 1 July 2025, as well as initiatives such as the Self-Assessment System for Real Property Gains Tax (STS CKHT), Global Minimum Tax (GMT), and STS Duti Setem. HASiL also shared ongoing efforts to improve service delivery through digital platforms like the MyInvois portal and apps.

MCMTC supports HASiL’s ongoing initiatives and remains committed to providing industry feedback that helps build a more efficient, transparent and inclusive tax system to support Malaysia’s long-term growth.
