CMM training companies to raise funds for growth
PETALING JAYA: Capital Markets Malaysia (CMM) has started its Elevate programme to coach and mentor participating companies on business redesign strategies, fundraising models and access to financing through the capital market.
Designed by CMM – an affiliate of the Securities Commission – and lead delivery partner 1337 Ventures, the Elevate programme is aimed at mid-tier companies.
They are defined by Malaysia External Trade Development Corp as manufacturing enterprises with annual revenues of RM50mil to RM500mil, and service enterprises with annual revenues of RM20mil to RM200mil.
The 12-month programme includes 96 hours of training, 72 hours of one-on-one mentoring, 32 hours of pitch bootcamps, 10 monthly events or seminars, and six networking sessions.
There are bi-monthly networking sessions in Elevate, where participants meet entrepreneurs and investors from a variety of industries, outside of their own.
Each participant is assigned to a coach best fit to the company’s needs.
To conclude the programme, an investor engagement event will be hosted, where top investors and firms across the region, together with high profile entrepreneurs will be invited to see the pitches of the participating companies.
“One of the funding avenues for businesses to grow, beyond the traditional source of banks, is to leverage the capital market funds and the Elevate programme will provide them with the tools and training to help them do that, ” said CMM general manager Zalina Shamsudin.
