On 4 June 2026, MCMTC collaborated with Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) to organise the “Road to IPO” programme, equipping Malaysian businesses with valuable insights on preparing for a successful public listing.

The event was honoured by the presence of YB Tuan Steven Sim, Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP), underscoring the Government’s strong commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s SME and mid-tier business ecosystem.

A key highlight of the programme was the fireside chat, “From Private Growth to Public Markets: The Road to IPO,” moderated by Mr. Sean Tan, Chief Business Officer of CGC. The session featured distinguished speakers: Mr. Leong See Meng, Director of Securities Market, Bursa Malaysia; Datuk Adrian Ng, Group CEO of Mega Fortris Berhad; and Mr. Allen Lee, Founder & Managing Director of PEOPLElogy Berhad. Participants gained practical knowledge on early preparation, corporate governance, business transformation, and building resilient organisations that are ready to meet the expectations of the capital market. The programme also highlighted the importance of long-term planning, as a successful listing begins well before the IPO process itself.

In his Closing Speech, MCMTC’s President Mr. Martin Ang, highlighted the vital role of Malaysia’s Mid-Tier Companies (MTCs) in driving the nation’s economic growth. He also reaffirmed MCMTC’s commitment to empowering MTCs through strategic collaboration, knowledge sharing, and capability development, enabling them to build stronger, future-ready businesses, strengthen their competitiveness and unlocking new opportunities for sustainable growth.

On 26 June 2026, MCMTC celebrated the successful graduation of participants from Wave 12 of the Mid-Tier Companies Development Programme (MTCDP). Representing MCMTC, Executive Director Karen Fairclough-Ng attended the graduation ceremony to commemorate the achievements of the graduates and reaffirm MCMTC’s commitment to supporting the growth and development of Malaysia’s mid-tier companies.

The programme welcomed 24 new mid-tier companies from diverse sectors, including electrical and electronics, oil and gas, construction, pharmaceuticals, logistics, automotive, professional services, and food and beverage, equipping them to compete successfully in the global marketplace.

Since its launch in 2014, the MTCDP has empowered 370 Malaysian mid-tier companies through tailored capability-building initiatives designed to strengthen export competitiveness and accelerate international growth. MCMTC itself was born from the success of the MTCDP. Established on 1 November 2017, the Consortium grew out of an informal CEO network formed by graduates from Waves 1 to 4, united by a shared vision to strengthen collaboration among Malaysia’s Mid-Tier Companies (MTCs).

Over the years, MCMTC has worked closely with MATRADE to champion the interests of Malaysian Mid-Tier Companies and serve as their collective voice, particularly during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. This close relationship was further reinforced with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 25 February 2025, underscoring a shared commitment to advancing Business Capability Building, Market Access Expansion, and Halal Market Leadership.

MCMTC Congratulates all MTCDP Wave 12 graduates on this significant milestone and look forward to them joining MCMTC!

On 2 April 2026, MCMTC organised a factory visit to Spritzer Berhad in Taiping, hosted by our Council Member Mr Kenny Lim, the Group CEO of Spritzer. The visit provided members with valuable insights into Malaysia’s leading bottled water producer and its integrated operations.

MCMTC members from the northern states and the Klang Valley were treated to a delicious networking lunch at the STG Café at Eco Park. Other key attractions at the Eco Park include the signature Cactus Rock, Mini Golf area and Souvenir Shop, all part of the Spritzer’s brand experience and eco-tourism initiatives.

After lunch, we moved over to the Water Bar where we were given a quick introduction of Spritzer’s business and equipped individually with state-of-the-art headsets (and hairnets) for the factory tour. Spritzer’s strong commitment to quality and sustainability is everywhere. The ‘plant’ is located within a 400 ha eco park and the natural mineral water is drawn from a 200-million-year-old aquifer, bottled untouched by human hands – from the bottle manufacturing (using food-grade recycled resins) to bottle rinsing, filling, capping, to packing (shrink or cartons, depending on variant) and onto AGVs (automated guided vehicles) delivering straight to the Automated Warehouse and for loading directly onto forklifts and onto the delivery trucks! We were also jokingly informed that the lights on the factory floor were switched on for our benefit as lights are not really required.

Read more about Spritzer here: https://www.spritzer.com.my/story

MCMTC extends its appreciation to Mr Kenny Lim and the Spritzer team for their warm hospitality and generous sharing of insights. MCMTC’s factory visits are about witnessing first hand operational excellence, sustainable business practices and strong leadership with foresight. It is about inspiring real-life stories, knowledge sharing and fostering stronger industry connections.

Remember to sign up for the next inspiring factory visit scheduled for the 2nd half of 2026!

On 12th March 2026, MCMTC had a meeting with Santander Bank, represented by Mr Vikkrama Kumaravale, to gain a deeper understanding of the Navigator platform. I was hosted by our Corporate Associate Member, MBSB, at Menara MBSB Bank – PJ Sentral. The session aimed to provide members with a practical introduction on how to utilise the platform to support cross-border trade and market expansion.

Eight MCMTC representatives participated in this session, where they were guided through the platform’s features, including market insights, trade data and tools designed to support international business decision-making. Participating MCMTC members were given complimentary one-year access to explore and leverage on the Navigator platform.

This initiative provides a valuable opportunity for members to better understand global markets, identify opportunities, and strengthen their internationalisation strategies.

MCMTC looks forward to seeing members benefit from this platform and enhance their journey towards #GoingGlobal.

11th March 2026, MCMTC paid a courtesy call to YBrs. Mr Abu Bakar Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), to strengthen ongoing collaboration in advancing Malaysia’s export and internationalisation agenda.

During the meeting, MCMTC President Mr Martin Ang shared updates on the MCMTC’s Council’s key initiatives and events throughout 2025, particularly those aligned with the MOU cooperation with MATRADE. These initiatives focussed on three core pillars: business capability building, market access expansion, and strengthening Malaysia’s halal market leadership.

Among the programmes highlighted were MCMTC’s Mentoring Programme to develop leadership and business capabilities among mid-tier companies, Overseas Business Missions and Strategic Partnerships aimed at opening new market opportunities. MCMTC also shared its engagement in key events such as MIHAS as well as collaborations with organisations including Halal Development Corporation (HDC), Credit Guarantee Corporation (CGC), MIDF/ MBSB Bhd and Khazanah to support Malaysian companies in scaling globally.

YBrs. Mr Abu Bakar shared MATRADE’s strategic focus on strengthening exporter development and export acceleration via various fronts. Both parties found many areas of common ground for collaborations, including the upcoming MATRADE Academy, MIHAS, and various other initiatives promoting trade into new emerging markets.

MCMTC appreciates the warm reception from YBrs. Mr Abu Bakar Yusof and team, and looks forward to continued collaboration with MATRADE in supporting Malaysian companies on their journey towards #GoingGlobal.
