George Yap

George Yap is currently the President of the Malaysian Timber Association (MTA), a Board Director of the Malaysian Wood Moulding & Joinery Council (MWMJC), and a Board Trustee of the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC).

He passionately advocates for the advancement of the timber industry towards a sustainable, environmentally friendly, and circular economy. As an entrepreneur, George is the Managing Director of the Weng Meng Group of Companies, a leading manufacturer of timber doors known for its SANDOR brand, a leading manufacturer of cable reels for the cable and wire industries, and a manufacturer focused on converting oil palm trunk (OPT) waste from replantation into a carbon storage product to replace timber, known for its LC+ brand.

George holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from Monash University in Australia.
