MCMTC meets MPC

Chairperson: Tuan Zahid Ismail, Director General of MPC.
Representatives from MCMTC were invited to a high-level discussion with the Director-General of MPC, Tuan Zahid Ismail. MCMTC was represented by Mr. Patrick Sim (Vice-President, Domestic), Ms Mag Ng (Secretary-General), Mr. Chu Chee Seng (Treasurer), Ir. Mahmood Azmy (Council Member) and Ms Karen Fairclough-Ng (General Manager). Our Honorary President Mr. Callum Chen unfortunately was not able to join at the last minute as he was down with a bad cold.
Coming from diverse backgrounds (retail FMCG, manufacturing, robotics & automation, engineering in oil & gas industry), it was a lively and useful session for all parties. We discussed industry challenges, supply chain issues and also strategies to enhance global competitiveness. The Malaysian Government is committed to improving efficiency and Tuan Zahid shared the directives given to MPC openly with us, i.e. bring cost down on regulatory compliances and bring productivity up. Their role is to look at how the Government can facilitate and bring down the cost of doing business in Malaysia and seeks feedback and ideas from MCMTC and the industry on how we can achieve that together. MPC briefed the participants on the Nexus programme with the Private Sector, the Academy in Industry programme and shared other success stories as well. MCMTC is looking forward to working closely with MPC on both existing and new programmes that can benefit more of our Members and our Nation as a whole. #buildingglobalchampions
